In November 2020, Berlin's Tegel Aiport closed in preparation for it to be transformed into a new high school and neighborhood, the Urban Tech Republic.

At LIN Architecten Urbanisten, I joined the project team responsble for the nine "mobility hubs” located throughout the masterplan holding tram stops, bicycle and car parking. To develop a unified language between all of the hubs, a baukasten or kit of parts was created with a series of different roofs, ground markings, and set of elements to choose from for the design for each mobility hub.

Baukasten used for Nine Mobility Hubs

Each mobility is inspired  by the rich history of Tegel Airport. Existing ground markings are used as navigation tools, and lights, reminiscent of airport runway lights, guide users to info-stations as well as car and bike parking at each hub.
