Collection in Focus: Modern European Currents
Guggenheim Museum, New YorkOpening Date: July 15, 2025 - Present
Location: Tower 2 Gallery
Role: Exhibition Designer at the Guggenheim
Modern European Currents showcases key works from the Guggenheim’s collection, including pieces by Natalia Goncharova, Vasily Kandinsky, Franz Marc, and others. At the dawn of the 20th century, these artists across Europe radically redefined what painting could be. Responding to sweeping social shifts and the rise of the avant-garde, they broke away from academic traditions—embracing bold color, simplified forms, and emotionally charged expression.
These artists drew on spirituality, nature, folk art, and global influences to make sense of a rapidly modernizing world. Modern European Currents invites you to experience a pivotal moment in art history—when creativity broke new ground and abstraction took root. As the exhibition designer for the project, I worked closely with the curators, conservators, and graphic designers to spatially design and organize the show.
